Turbocharger rebuilds

Rebuild kits for bearings and oil seals are normally around £40-80 and apparently need no specialist tools. A full rebuild and balance is only really needed if you are replacing the rotating parts, but for a straightforward strip down and rebuild, as long as everything is carefully marked up before removal, the turbo should still be balanced when it is put back together.

I found a couple of good website rebuild instructions that are pretty good source of information. The first one is a detailed rebuild of a Mitsubishi TD04-13T, the second is a guide to rebuilding Garrett turbo found on a Buick, and the third is a rebuild guide for an IHI RHB5 VJ11 turbo from a Mazda MX6 (MX6.com forum).
