It can be difficult to find a relevant turbocharger kit for your specific application. Most universal turbocharger kits are poor-fitting and the turbocharger kits from companies like HKS, Turbo technics and BBM can run your turbo conversion budget out pretty quickly.
Our Turbocharger Kits
You may notice that as yet there are no turbocharger kits on our site - as we speak we're putting together a list of application-specific turbo kits to help you stay on budget with your turbo conversion. Very soon we'll have turbos for sale and we're looking to offer a specific turbocharger kit for the following applications but please use the poll to the right to let us know the particular turbocharger kit that you are interested in.
Honda Turbo Kit
VW 16v Turbo kit
Skyline Single Turbo kit
Supra twin turbo kit
Choosing a turbocharger kit
Choosing a turbo for your turbocharger kit is not brain surgery, but with stupid choices you can miss out on the strong points of your engine's capabilities. we can all make poor choices and with hindsight it's easier to come up with a decent application, but there are some simple ways to ensure your turbocharger kit is well-matched to a base engine.
Compressor
Compressor is one of 2 most important factors of choosing turbo for your turbocharge kit. Compressor inlet bore and compressor A/R relate to the flow of the item but the best indication of whether a turbo kits suits you is a compressor's efficiency map. If you don't know exactly your engine specs, you can still do some very rough assumptions about inlet bore. Usually 40-42mm bore is capable to flow 200hp, 49-50mm to 300hp. |

The 16v Turbo
|
Whilst searching and searching the internet for information about turboing our VW 16v Corrado/Golf, it became immediately apparent that there was no single place of reference where information could be found on performing this conversion. There are some sources out there, namely the VW fanatics forums, where the information is hidden within other peoples 16v turbo projects, but the problem with that is it's just a single persons approach to the conversion. This of course gives you a very limited amount of information and in some cases, when browsing two or three 'dubbers' projects, the information is contradictory. With this in mind, we came to the conclusion that it would be a great idea to have all (as much as possible) the information about this conversion on one easy to use website, so that like-minded VW fanatics could use this mountain of information as a good point of reference for embarking on their own 16v turbo conversion.

The nature of the conversion is such that the ways and means to achieve the same thing are almost limitless. If you consider that its possible to use 5 different VW blocks as the base engine, then already you have a confusing choice to make. The decision can be helped by which engine you are already running in your Dub, but in some cases i.e. where you don't have a 16 valve engine to start with, the decision needs to be made based on budget, availability and ultimately target power output.
